Blog #1 Animal Farm

The idea of "guilt an blame" is shown throughout the entire book of Animal Farm. Guilt and blame is mostly used in order for someone to make another feel self shame over themselves and empathy for another.
In chapter six of Animal Farm the pigs sleep in beds. When the others try to comment on it the pigs put them on a huge guilt trip, making them think that they deserve to sleep in the beds. This is shown as Neopolian states that "you would not have us too tired to Cary on our duties? You surely do not want Jones back?"(67). This is a huge wave of guilt for the other animal cause in persuading then he makes them feel like it takes a lot of energy to be the leader of the farm. Neopolean's way of putting them through guilt mainly works because he makes them feel guilty for doubting the reasoning for sleeping in beds and noting that if the pigs weren't to get a good nights rest that they couldn't properly 'work' and in the end jones would come back an it would be all their fault. This idea is also hugely used when placing the blame on Snowball for destroying the windmill. He used this tactic in order to make snowball seem like the lesser pig (person) and himself like the stronger one.
All around this concept is used, whether it has to do with large problems or even that of siblings blaming stuff on each other. Although in our world guilt comes from a variety of things it can also come from blame, closely intertwining the two.
